Farmina's story began over 50 years ago in Italy, rooted in strong family values. In 1965, Mr. Francesco Russo founded the Russo Mangimi company, specializing in animal nutrition. He instilled his passion and values in his children, nurturing both his family and his business.
In 1999, Dr. Angelo Russo, Francesco’s son, redirected the company’s focus to the pet food industry, driven by a vision to create scientifically-backed nutritional products for pets. Collaborating with Farmina, an English company known for its expertise in food research and formulation, marked the beginning of this journey. The positive response from customers led to increased investment in technological research and development.
Dr. Russo established Farmina Vet Research, assembling a team of veterinarians and nutritional experts. This team collaborates with independent research institutes, such as the Chair of Nutrition and Animal Nutrition at the University of Naples Federico II, to continuously study and develop the best food for pets.
